I’m Gay and Drink Water

is a memoir about identity, mental health, and facing your inner truth. It’s a coming of age coming out story that starts with Ally as a freshman on the University of Mississippi’s women’s soccer team.

Ally had been running her entire life. She ran on the soccer field, but she also ran away from her feelings off the field. Ally recounts moments as a closeted college soccer player and reflects on why she used alcohol to numb the truest parts of her identity.

It’s a story for queer folks.

It’s a story for college students.

It’s a story for anyone struggling with mental health.

I’m Gay and Drink Water comes out this August.

started writing as a hobby when she as 8-years-old. What began as journal entries and silly short stories has turned into a love for writing creative nonfiction. Ally grew up playing competitive soccer in and around St. Louis, MO. Soccer took her all over the country, and she ended her career playing for Webster University in her hometown. She was inducted into Webster’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2023.

Her debut memoir comes out August 2024. In addition to “I’m Gay and Drink Water”, Ally has two other books in the works. She has an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from DePaul University. When she’s not writing, you can find her exercising, working at a law firm, reading or doing yard work with her fiancé.
